Melissa's Transplant Story

In the fall of 2015, Melissa experienced a sudden drop in her lung function and went into respiratory failure. Over the course of one month, she went from surfing to being placed on life support and was put at the top of the list for a double lung transplant.  After 23 days Melissa received new lungs and the gift of life from an anonymous donor on November 3, 2015. Her gratitude for her donor and their family is a constant presence in Melissa and her loved ones live, living with the appreciation of the gift of extra time they were given.
