Mauli Ola Foundation
The Mauli Ola Foundation (MOF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hope and confidence to individuals living with genetic diseases. Harnessing the healing powers of the ocean, we introduce surfing and ocean-based activities as natural therapies. We are honored to share our knowledge of the ocean, family values and community.
O'Neill Wetsuits
The wetsuit design team at O'Neill has worked closely with Melissa and Joey to develop a vest to carry the oxygen tank both comfortably and safety while out in the surf. They have also built in custom padding to wetsuits in order to pad Melissa's feeding tube and allows her to lay comfortably on the surfboard. Falling in line with Jack O'Neill's pursuit to surf for longer, the development of the surfing vest has allowed Melissa to continue catching waves far past what many expected.
Pearson Arrow
Bob Pearson worked closely with Melissa and Joey designing a custom tandem board that would meet their sizes and needs for surfing with the oxygen tank. Combining the knowledge of previous tandem boards he created for the "Ride a Wave" foundation and specifics in what Joey needed to help Melissa ride a wave, a massive board 14 ft long x 30 in wide x 6 inches thick.
